Looking South of Yangtze River by Anonymous (translation)

Though the poet’s name is unknown, this poem appears to have been written by a woman.

Looking South of Yangtze River

The moon in the sky,

Looking from afar

Like an orb of silver.

At the end of this long night

The wind slowly heightens -

Oh wind do disperse the clouds

that concealed the moon’s light

And let her shine on his cheating heart.

夜久更風漸緊,為奴吹散月邊雲,照見負心人。
