Jan the Champion Jam Maker

My friend Jan won a first prize for her Davidson Plum jam at the Show this year so for her birthday I gave her a jam making pot with a swinging handle and a pouring lip.

She and Ross called in on their way home to Bellingen last week and picked a variety of citrus from my orchard – blood orange, two varieties of Seville oranges, tangelo, two varieties of mandarins, two types of cumquats, lemon, three types of limes, and Chinotto orange. This morning they sent photographs of Jan’s jam making session.  It looks to be the winner of the Marmalade Mix Fruit section  next year.

One of those jars has my name on it. :)

I wish I could have some citrus fruits from your garden, dear Mary. I have never seen some of the fruits you described, but I’m sure they are very good because you raised them with love. I make a lot of jam, too. Last one I made was from apricots, nectarines and rhubarb with a little rum. I would give you a glas if you were closer. Have a nice day, kind regards Mitza
