Salvia Van Houtei

My urban orchard does not allow me much room for growing ornamentals but last year I brought home this salvia from the Collectors’ Plant Fair to aid pollination.  It stood out by attracting all the bees from all the other salvias.  When I walked away with a pot in my arms, all the bees came with it too.  I’d never been happier about being followed by a swarm of bees.  Luckily they didn’t come home in the car with us.

This salvia will be amongst many that I will be donating to the Huge Plant Sale on April 9 to raise funds for cancer research.  Watch this space to see other offerings in the days to come.

From small pot to full size in one year.

The Huge Plant Sale will be at 45 Parklands Avenue, Lane Cove North (northern suburb of Sydney, Australia) from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, April 9, 2017.

Wonderful! I’m making this year’s garden a bee and butterfly garden, and am looking for just such a plant. We have at least one urban apiarist in my neighborhood so I need to do my part!
