I have no idea what’s going on outside my place.  The noise of metal grinding took me outdoors to investigate.  There’s a line of trucks in my lane; a sign on one of them says “Water Infrastructure” and in the middle of them a tall crane.  I got out my phone to take some photographs and the workmen waved me off, mouthing “It’s Dangerous.”  At least that’s what I think he said, since the noise was deafening.IMG_0796

They’d secured the overhead wires with a black and yellow sleeve and a cage carrying one workman is swinging in the westerly wind.

One of those mysterious workings of our council that hopefully will be revealed.  I’ll go out again when the noise stops.

I am neighbour to everybody’s backyards, houses that front other streets. My cottage is built on a subdivision and to everyone other than the taxman, I don’t exist. No doubt everyone else were served notices.

It looks like something to do with that old sewer vent stack (which has its cap missing), but knowing the council, it could be anything!
