Giving Time by Robert Okaji 用心 (Translation)

This is my Chinese translation of Robert Okaji’s poem.  The reading is in Cantonese.

The supplicant’s desire: 懇求者之願望:

mornings sliced into perfect pieces, afternoons 早晨裁成恰好的片段

dipped in honey, evenings freed. 下午蘸蜜糖,黃昏無事

A gift of absence. 一個不存在的禮物

To gather and bear, shaping 收集,承擔,創作

the resultant minutes,利用所得的片刻

she takes yeast from the air, adds 她用天賜的酵母

flour, water and salt. 麵粉,水 和 鹽

Matched with the ripening 配上夠促熟的

hour and the sweetened bitter taste,時段和變甜了的苦味

I recall how blood 我記得那血怎樣

seeped through the towel, and 滲透毛巾,又

observe on the table the 看到擺在桌上的

cheese, plums, the harvested day.奶酪,李子,收穫成的一天
