Back On My Beat

I knew I was home when I saw the sails of the Sydney Opera House and our ‘coat hanger’, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.  They’re on my beat.

Saturday morning coffee with a friend then ferry to Circular Quay.  National Theatre Live’s new production of GBS’s Man and Superman was on at the Dendy’s.  An extraordinary two and half hours of mostly Ralph Fiennes’ superb performance in the lead role.  Still, it was long and I was tired from a bad night and jet lag.  I confess to almost nodding off in the third of four acts.

On my way home on the ferry I remembered to take some photos.

What great scenes to sigmal “Welcome home!”. I always loved the scenery when I discovered reruns of Water Rats on cable TV.

Wow! Those pictures are stunning. After 30 days of being immersed somewhere so different, I wonder if you are looking at home with new eyes

Thanks, Cynthia. Sydney harbour is stunning and I feel nourished just by the sight of it. When I was in Istanbul my thoughts always turned towards home while I was on the Bosphorus. It’s good to be back.
